A little bit backwards
Last night when we left, we were so encouraged by how much better Lizzey looked. This morning when we walked in I had to wonder.....where did Liz go.....there was this 'person' in the bed, but she didn't look like the daughter we left last night. She looked white, dead tired, and was nauseated, so we were all disappointed that she was feeling worse today than yesterday. The morning was spent getting cleaned up, gown changed and hair washed which sounds like a quick thing....if you are at home, in your own surroundings....and not feeling...icky. We get her ready kind of in steps....she does as much as she can, then goes back in bed for awhile. Then when she feels ready, up and in the bathroom again and a little more gets done...then back to bed!! The last step is always washing her hair and by the time we are done with that, she's more than ready to rest!! But rest in a hospital...don't think so!! It was lunch time so it was delivered but not eaten...same as breakfast so are still working with that. We left for a couple of hours so she could sleep, but there was a steady flow of people in and out during that time so she didn't get alot of shut eye. She wanted to get out of her room for awhile so we loaded her in a wheelchair and got some fresh air....well, not outside fresh air, but maybe 'different' air would be more what I wanted to say!! We were rolling around about 40 minutes and then headed back to her room....she was ready, but it was great for her to be outside these 4 walls awhile. Then...the best part of the day...we had requested a visit from one of the CC greeter dogs so at 6 we were visited by Molly, a beautiful golden retriever. She hopped up on Lizzey's bed and snuggled next to her for a good 20 minutes. It was the best medicine she has had since we got here and lets be honest here...best meds for me too because if you know me, you know I am a huge dog person!! We were glad that we got a big dog too...she was kind of worried we would get a small yippy one....and we are a bigger dog family....so a great visit today!! A resident and PA were in today and talked of possible discharge tomorrow. I'm not sure we are ready for that yet with eating and pain issues, and there also is still a drain in...draining...out!!! But....what do we know, if they say we are ready, I guess we will be ready!
